January 25, 2024

Sharon Irene Manning Cook, of Nampa, Idaho, slipped quietly from this mortal life on June 15, 2024. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on October 11, 1942 to John and Irene Manning. Before her 3rd birthday, the family moved to Nampa, Idaho which Sharon always thought of as "home" despite her travels and the many other places she lived.

In December 1962, Sharon married Sterling L Cook, who had served as her brother Roger's mission companion in Germany. The couple married in the Idaho Falls Temple, then moved to the east coast for Sterling's job. By October of 1963, Sharon was on her way to Berlin, Germany, just in time for their daughter Renatta to be born. They spent several happy years exploring Europe, even climbing the Swiss Alps. After a few years, the family returned to the states, and spent the next 15 years moving frequently and adding John and Ken to the family. Sharon lived in Virginia, Maryland, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, and Wyoming before once again returning to Nampa, Idaho where she spent the remainder of her life.

Sharon loved the outdoors, and her happiest times were working in her garden, camping, riding her bicycle, or taking long walks. Despite a traumatic brain injury in 1976 that took away years of her lived memories, she never lost her faith, her sense of humor, nor her talent for music. She played the piano and violin, sang, composed, and loved to listen to music.

Sharon is survived by her three children, Renatta Cook, John (Kris) Cook, and Ken (Jill) Cook; also, her sister, Sandra (Hank) Bierman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sterling L Cook, her brother Roger Manning, and her parents, John and Irene Manning.
