Robert Kirk Beck (Kirk), 74, of Nampa, Idaho, passed away on November 13, 2024, from complications with Parkinson’s Disease. He passed away at home surrounded by family.
Kirk was born January 18, 1950, in Shelley, Idaho, the son of late Marjorie Kelly (Ingram) and Otto Frederick Beck, Jr. He was the youngest of three siblings. Kirk married Bonnie Aleene Lewis on May 4, 1973, in Inkom, Idaho. They were sealed in the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on May 4, 1974.
Kirk graduated from Highland High School in Pocatello, Idaho, in 1968. Kirk joined the Idaho Army National Guard in May of 1968 and was discharged in June of 1999 with the rank of Master Sergeant. He completed his general studies at Idaho State University from 1970–1972, and he completed a general drafting certificate from ISU Vo-Tech in 1973.
He used his drafting skills from 1973–1976 working for the Idaho Highway Department in Pocatello. Kirk then worked for JR Simplot Company in Pocatello as an industrial engineer helper from 1976–1978. Kirk began his full-time career with the National Guard in 1978. The family moved from eastern Idaho to the Treasure Valley in 1985.
Following his discharge from the National Guard, he worked for the United States Postal Service from 2000–2001 operating the postage metering equipment. In 2000, he began working for Saint Alphonsus Hospital in Boise, Idaho, as a supply technician and a patient transporter until his retirement in 2013. Following his retirement from Saint Alphonsus, Kirk and Bonnie found great joy in serving as temple workers in the Boise Idaho Temple until 2020 when the temple closed due to the COVID pandemic. Bonnie passed away at the age of 70 on February 6, 2021.
Kirk was a talented baseball player in his youth, playing the position of first baseman for Highland High School. After graduation, he occasionally participated in various slow-pitch softball leagues.
Kirk was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout his adult life. He faithfully served as the ward membership clerk for many, many years under multiple bishops.
Kirk was an enthusiastic Boise State football fan. He and Bonnie held season passes for several years. He eagerly anticipated the season-opening game each year, and he never missed watching a game. The tradition of watching Bronco football games with his kids and grandkids was cherished by the whole family.
Kirk greatly enjoyed supporting his children and grandchildren in their extracurricular activities and hobbies, such as choir and orchestra concerts, dance recitals, and athletic events.
Kirk’s military honors include the Meritorious Service Award, the Army Commendation Award, and the Army Achievement Award.
Kirk is survived by his children: Jeremy (Bernadette), Derek (Amy), Tyson (Becki), Kaidie (Austin) Steadman; ten grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, David; and sister, Joann Farnworth.
Kirk is preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie; daughter, Lucille; and parents, Otto and Marjorie.

A viewing will be on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., with a funeral service following at 12:00 p.m., both located at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 88 South Happy Valley Road, in Nampa, Idaho. Kirk will be interred in the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery.
