Early Life
Cynthia “Cindy” Marie Crouch Jardine, 73, passed away Saturday, September 12, 2026, surrounded by those she loved, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Cindy was born May 26, 1953, in Tucson, Arizona to Lawrence & Arlene Crouch while her father was serving in the United States Air Force. At two years old, her family moved to Elko, Nevada where she grew up as the oldest of four children. From an early age, Cindy was bright, determined, hardworking, and eager to learn. She loved to read, had a remarkable memory, and developed talents that would eventually bless countless others.
A Love of Music
Music became one of the greatest loves of Cindy’s life. As a young girl she sang, played violin and French Horn, learned percussion, twirled baton, and performed in musical theatre. Among her favorite early experiences were portraying Becky Thatcher in Tom Sawyer, Louisa in the Sound of Music, and cutting her waist- length hair to play the title role in Oliver! She later performed as a baton twirler, participated in competitions, played in a regional orchestra, and spent a lifetime sharing her love of music with others.
Marriage & Family
On August 7, 1971, Cindy married Hal Jardine in Elko, Nevada. They were later sealed for eternity in the Ogden Utah Temple on April 12, 1974. Their marriage became the great love of Cindy’s life. She once asked Hal to tell her a great story about the two of them. His answer was simple:
“We are a great story.”
And they are! Their true love for each other has been a sweet example as they agreed if they disagreed, they would never be disagreeable. And they went for over 55 years without having a serious fight.
Together, Cindy and Hal built a life centered on faith, family, hard work, service, laughter, and love.
Of all of Cindy’s accomplishments, none meant more to her than being a mother. Her family is everything to her. She and Hal were blessed with their Children Brian (Amy) Lima, RobbiAnn Baxter, Tony (Mari) Jardine, Nanette (Luke) Allen, Miken (Sheila) Jardine, Barbara (Trevor) Andersen, and Janni (David) Gaskins.
Teaching & Music
Cindy was a gifted teacher who shared her talents in voice, violin, piano, baton, musical drama, and other areas of music. She wrote many of her own songs and was able to write parts for any instrument for any song, when needed. She considered teaching and encouraging young people one of the great privileges of her life.
She was twice recognized as 6th District Music Teacher of the Year, an honor that meant a great deal to her. Cindy credited her success not simply to musical ability, but to what she descried as her passion for music and a love of people. She truly enjoyed participating in and directing musical theater and led the community Christmas program for over 30 years. She had a tremendous impact on all of her students and the community members with whom she worked.
Faith
Cindy’s faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life. As a child, even when her parents were working, she walked to church by herself to be baptized and returned the next morning on her bicycle to be confirmed. She remained a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints throughout her life. Her most precious goal was the promise of living eternally with her family in the presence of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.
Cindy believed deeply in integrity, kindness, and being true to who you are. One phrase heard often by her family and students captured the way she tried to live:
“Let’s be loving and kind.”
Cindy will always be remembered for having the strongest cheek muscles, due to her large, one-of-a-kind smile and her eternal optimism.
Family & Legacy
Cindy is survived by her beloved husband and best friend, Hal; her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; her siblings, and many extended family members, former students and friends whose lives are better because she was part of them.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved son, Miken Jardine, whom her family finds great comfort in knowing was waiting to welcome his mother home.
Cindy fulfilled her earthly mission and hope to be a positive memory in the lives of those she touched. She most certainly is.
Funeral Services
Funeral Services will be held Friday, September 18th, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ~ Moore Stake Center.
A viewing will be held Thursday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Anderson Family Funeral Home and one hour prior to services.
Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Arco, Idaho.
