Warren Eugene Shepard, 84, passed away on May 23, 2026, at home surrounded by his family.
Warren was born on November 1, 1941, in Oregon, Missouri, to Clark and Mary Shepard. He was welcomed into the family by his older brother, Eldon. When Warren was three years old, the family moved to Weiser, Idaho, where he spent his childhood and attended grade school and high school.
Early Life & Education
Warren loved growing up in Weiser. It was there that he developed a lifelong passion for fishing and hunting while building many friendships that would last throughout his life.
Following high school, he attended the University of Idaho, where he earned his teaching degree and prepared for a career in education.
Marriage & Family
Warren married Dolores Trugerio in 1962 in Weiser, Idaho. Together they welcomed twin daughters, Katy Marie and Laura Ann, who quickly became the center of their lives.
The family moved to Meridian, Idaho, where Warren taught at Meridian High School. Warren and Dolores later divorced in 1977.
In 1979, Warren married Sallyann Shepard. Together they built a life centered on family, business, and their shared love of the outdoors.
Career & Business
Even while teaching, Warren displayed an entrepreneurial spirit. He built grandfather clocks for boat dealers, eventually accepting boats as payment that he would resell. This venture grew into the creation of Meridian Boats in downtown Meridian.
As the business flourished, Warren and Sallyann purchased property on Fairview Avenue in Meridian and operated the business there for the next decade. His success in the boating industry led manufacturers to select him as a distributor for their products.
Warren was known for his hard work, determination, and ability to turn opportunity into success.
Love of Wildlife & Conservation
In 2000, Warren and Sallyann returned to Weiser after purchasing property where Warren could devote himself to wildlife conservation.
He often joked that the project was "payback" for all the fish and wildlife he had harvested throughout his life. He spent countless hours improving habitat and helping restore pheasants, geese, deer, and other wildlife to the land he loved.
The property became one of his greatest joys, and he worked tirelessly to make it a haven for wildlife and future generations.
Final Years
In 2025, due to health concerns, Warren and Sallyann relocated to Meridian so they could be closer to medical care and family support.
Even as his health declined, Warren remained surrounded by the people he loved most and the memories of a life well lived.
Survivors
Warren is survived by his beloved wife, Sallyann Shepard; his daughters, Katy Marie and Laura Ann; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and countless friends who became like family throughout his life.
