Kurt E. Reuter
Kurt E. Reuter, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on January 25, 2026, at his residence in Boise, Idaho, following a long illness.
Early Life
Kurt was born on June 21, 1947, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Eugene and Audrey (Lindsay) Reuter. He was raised with a strong sense of duty, integrity, and service—values that would guide him throughout his life.
Military Service
Following high school, Kurt enlisted in the United States Navy, where he proudly served two tours in Vietnam aboard the USS Mauna Loa. While visiting a Navy friend in Boise, Idaho, Kurt recognized the beauty of the state, the character of its people, and the opportunity it provided to raise his young family. Boise soon became his permanent home.
After active-duty service, Kurt continued his commitment by joining the Navy Reserve, later transferring to the Idaho Air National Guard. He retired with the distinguished rank of Chief Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force.
His service with the Idaho Air Guard included deployments in support of:
- Operation Provide Comfort in Saudi Arabia (Operation Southern Watch)
- Incirlik, Turkey (Operation Northern Watch)
- Al Jaber, Kuwait (Operation Iraqi Freedom)
In total, Kurt dedicated 33 years of military service—17 years in the Navy and Navy Reserve and 16 years with the Idaho Air Guard. He was a Life Member of VFW Post #63 in Boise and VFW Post #2473 in Clearwater, Florida.
Masonic Service
Kurt was also deeply devoted to Freemasonry. He was a Life Member of Oriental Lodge #60, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Idaho. His service included roles as Worshipful Master and District Deputy Grand Master. Kurt was a 32nd Degree Mason and an active member of the Scottish Rite, where he was respected for his leadership, dedication, and brotherhood.
Marriage & Family
Kurt and his beloved wife, Ann Marie (Wallace) Reuter, celebrated 56 years of marriage in May 2025. Their life together was built on devotion, partnership, and enduring love.
He is survived by his wife Ann Marie; his daughter Kimarie Kirsch (Greg); his son Paul Reuter (Aimee Potts); and his cherished grandchildren Meilora Frakes, Teagan Reuter, and Trace Reuter. He is also survived by his sister Joan (Reuter) Walker (Michael) and their children Christopher and Stephen Walker, along with their families.
Kurt was preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Audrey Reuter, his brother Bill Reuter, and sister-in-law Anita (Schaeffer) Reuter.
Services
A Celebration of Life and Masonic Service will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Summers Funeral Home in Boise, Idaho.
Interment with full military honors will follow at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Boise at 2:00 p.m. the same day.
Kurt’s life was marked by faithful service, steadfast leadership, and unwavering love for his family and country. His legacy of honor and dedication will be remembered by all who knew him.
