Life & Legacy
Jon Davis Huber passed away peacefully at home in Meridian, Idaho, on October 16, 2025, surrounded by love. He was born just after midnight on March 31, 1937, in Mesa, Arizona, to Albert and Lapreel Huber.
At age 13, Jon and his family moved to Meridian, where he discovered his lifelong love for animals—choosing a horse over a cow when given the choice. He became active in band, FFA, Scouts, and shop class, and developed an early fascination with chemistry that would later shape his career.
Education & Missionary Service
Jon attended Boise State College and the University of Idaho, where he earned his Master of Science in Dairy Science in 1965. He later continued graduate studies at North Carolina State University.
A man of faith and devotion, Jon served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Southern Australia Mission, headquartered in Melbourne. His faith remained a guiding force throughout his life, influencing his service, his family, and his work.
Marriage & Family
Jon married his eternal sweetheart, Violet Coston, and together they built a warm and loving home across four different states—welcoming a child in each. Their shared journey was filled with faith, hard work, and the joy of raising a strong, close-knit family.
Career & Contributions
Jon’s professional life was marked by creativity and precision. A food scientist by trade, he worked for Safeway, Foremost McKesson, Germantown, and Nestlé. His contributions included developing the chocolate coating for the Mickey Mouse ice cream bars and the iconic Push-Ups—treats that brought joy to countless people around the world.
His work was not just about science—it was about innovation, excellence, and integrity.
Interests & Character
Jon’s curiosity extended far beyond the lab. He loved music, especially playing the trumpet and harmonica, and found peace in woodworking, leathercraft, and gardening. A natural tinkerer, Jon could fix almost anything and delighted in understanding how things worked.
Above all, Jon loved his family—his greatest joy and life’s masterpiece.
Survivors
Jon is survived by his loving wife, Violet Huber;
his children: Jennifer (Marlin) Smith, Allison (Cody) Adams, Hillary (Mike) Colborn, and Jonathan Huber;
18 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and other beloved family members who welcomed him home.
Service Information
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. at
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
2555 South Stoddard Road, Meridian, Idaho.
A viewing will precede the service at 8:30 a.m., followed by interment at Meridian Cemetery.
