Jacqueline M. Nelson (Lamiette), of Nampa, Idaho, passed away after a short illness on October 10, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on July 28, 1962, in Lewiston, Maine, the youngest child of Gerard N. Lamiette, Sr. and Gloria B. Lamiette of Hallowell, Maine.
Marriage & Family
Jacqueline met the love of her life, her best friend, and her Knight in Shining Armor, James Webster Nelson, in 1993 in Brunswick, Maine. The two were married for time and all eternity on January 28, 1995, in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Together, they shared 30 beautiful years filled with love, faith, and laughter.
Education & Career
A lifelong learner, Jacqueline graduated from Edward Little High School in 1981 and Mansfield Beauty Academy in 1989. She later attended Southern New Hampshire University and the University of Nevada, Reno, before earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fine Arts from Boise State University in 2011.
Teaching was her passion and calling. She inspired countless young minds during her years at Victory, Liberty, and Legacy Charter Schools in Nampa, ultimately retiring from Liberty Charter School in July 2025.
Before her teaching career, she owned and operated Mid Coast Art Glass and Restoration in Brunswick, Maine—a business that reflected her deep love for craftsmanship and creativity. She also served as an HR Assistant and Per Diem Recruiter/Benefits Specialist at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick, and earlier as Secretary of the Environmental Services and Biomedical Engineering Departments at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Maine.
Faith & Service
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Jacqueline served faithfully in many callings throughout her life. Her spirit of service extended to her professional field as well—she served six years on the Board of Directors for the Idaho Art Education Association, supporting and uplifting art teachers across the state.
Passions & Personality
Jacqueline lived a life filled with movement, beauty, and adventure. Her hobbies included sprint triathlons, 5Ks, kayaking, running, biking, hiking, backpacking, and rock climbing. She cherished time spent with family at her favorite destination, Driggs, Idaho, where she found peace in the mountains.
She loved walking the beaches of Maine with her children and grandchildren, collecting sea glass and sand dollars, and treasuring the simple joy of being together. Her friendships ran deep—especially with her two dearest friends, Deborah Bond of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, and Laurie Jaramillo of Westport Island, Maine, who shared decades of laughter, loyalty, and love.
Family
Jacqueline is survived by her loving husband and lifelong companion of 30 years, James Webster Nelson; her children: Christopher B. Morin of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Brian Joseph Morin of Auburn, Maine; and Olivia Caroline Nelson of Nampa, Idaho.
She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Jessica Mitchell-Morin, and grandchildren Noah Lawrence Morin, Adelyn Kay Morin, and River James Morin, all of Virginia Beach, Virginia; her sister Wendy Elizabeth Lamiette of Gardiner, Maine; her mother Gloria B. Lamiette of Nampa, Idaho; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gerard Normand Lamiette, Sr.; her brother, Gerard Normand Lamiette, Jr.; and her sister, Holly Ann Lamiette, all of Auburn, Maine.
Service Information
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
121 N. Canyon Street, Nampa, Idaho.
Burial will follow at the Driggs Cemetery, County of Teton, Town of Driggs, Idaho.
Legacy
Jacqueline will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, her love for teaching and art, her devotion to family, and her faith in the Savior. Her light, laughter, and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
