Early Life
Nathan Dean Carpenter, 72, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2025. He was born on January 28, 1953, to Dean and Lita Carpenter, the oldest of six children.
Nate grew up in Monteview, Idaho, where he developed a deep love for farming and learned the value of hard work—a foundation that would guide his life. He graduated from West Jefferson High School in 1971 and went on to attend the Wyoming Technical Institute, earning his diploma as an automotive technician.

Marriage & Family
In the spring of 1977, Nate met Crystal Hoggan, the love of his life. The two were married on June 16, 1977, and together built a life grounded in faith, perseverance, and family. They were blessed with five children: Cody, Dana, Kevin, Luke, and Abby.

Their family experienced profound sorrow when two of their daughters, Cody and Abby, passed away from SIDS as infants — a loss Nate and Crystal faced with enduring strength and quiet grace.

Work & Service
Nate was the embodiment of hard work. A proud union member, he dedicated over 40 years of service to his trade, forming lifelong friendships both on the job site and during the many carpools shared through the years.

He also served his country with honor in the United States Army, stationed in Hawaii during the Vietnam War.

Throughout his life, Nate worked countless construction jobs, raised Holstein cattle, and eventually took on a second full-time role farming alfalfa, oats, barley, and wheat — all while providing steadfastly for his family. He approached every task with determination, humility, and pride, setting an example for all who knew him.

Passions & Personality
Outside of work, Nate’s greatest joy was time spent with his family. He loved hunting, fishing, woodworking, playing pinochle, and traveling with friends.
His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he treasured every moment spent sharing stories, laughter, and lessons with them.

Known for his mischievous grin and easygoing spirit, Nate lived with an infectious joy. He could often be heard singing “Don’t Worry, Be Happy,” a reflection of his optimism and playful outlook on life.
