Early Life
Wade Vaughan was born on October 10, 1936, in Pasadena, California, to Betty Vaughan. He was raised alongside his younger brother, Bruce Vaughan, by their devoted mother.

After graduating from high school, Wade attended UCLA, where he earned his degree. Soon after, he proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps.

Career & Service
Following his military service, Wade began working for the Forest Service. A chance day with friends led him to the Los Angeles Fire Department, where he was unexpectedly accepted. Wade quickly discovered his calling and devoted his career to the fire service, forging friendships and bonds that lasted a lifetime.

After sustaining an injury, Wade retired from the department on July 18, 1983.

Life in Idaho & Family
Upon retirement, Wade moved to Mackay, Idaho, where he owned land and soon built a cabin home. He became an active member of the American Legion, embracing both community and camaraderie.

In 1989, Wade met and married Donna, his beloved wife of 36 years. Their marriage came with a “full package deal”—Donna’s four children—whom Wade wholeheartedly embraced as his own:

  • Kevin (Barbara) Bailey
  • Frank Bailey
  • Cari (Scott) Heuer
  • Tami (Eric) Foster

Their growing family expanded to include many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

As the family grew, Wade added on to his cabin, ensuring it became a warm and welcoming home for all. That same cabin lovingly sheltered him until his passing on August 19, 2025.

Passions & Interests
Wade was a man of many simple joys. He loved:

  • Watching wildlife wander into the yard
  • Fishing and hunting
  • Watching sports
  • Collecting stamps and quarters
  • Feeding and watching hummingbirds
  • Spending time with friends, especially fire department buddies
  • Talking and visiting with anyone who came his way

His favorite color was red, and he loved anything connected to fire trucks—a nod to his proud years of service.

Service Information
Memorial Services for Wade will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Anderson Family Funeral Home, with military rites provided by the American Legion of Mackay.

Closing Tribute
Wade will be remembered as a devoted Marine, firefighter, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. His legacy of service, strength, and love will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
