Opening Statement
With love and tender remembrance, the family of Edith Ann “Eydie” O’Donnell Wallentine announces her passing on August 23, 2025.
Early Life
Eydie was born on June 26, 1953, in Rigby, Idaho, to Bennett and Wanda O’Donnell. At just two years old, she lost her father, and heartbreak followed when her mother passed away only eight days after Eydie’s fifth birthday. She and her six siblings were lovingly adopted by their maternal grandmother, Della Gray Barnes, and Della’s husband, Angus William Barnes.
Raised in Arco, Idaho, Eydie enjoyed the company of her siblings and many cousins. She graduated from Butte High School in 1971, then briefly attended Rick’s College (BYU–Idaho) before moving to Logan, Utah, to pursue new opportunities with a close friend.
Marriage & Family
While working at Casper’s Ice Cream, Eydie was introduced to Reed Booth Wallentine on a blind date. Just days later, they knew they wanted to marry. They were sealed for eternity on June 29, 1973, in the Logan Utah LDS Temple.
Together, they built a beautiful life, welcoming four children: Robert, Dale, Connie, and Christian. Though she had once dreamed of having twelve children, Eydie devoted herself wholeheartedly to raising her four and later to cherishing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her life was one of selfless love. She supported Reed in his trucking and business ventures, turning their home—and even their tire shop—into spaces filled with warmth, creativity, and faith. She delighted in sewing, cross-stitching, crocheting, and creating endless handmade gifts that expressed her devotion to family.
Faith & Service
Eydie lived a life of devotion to her faith as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in numerous callings, most joyfully in the Primary, where her boundless love for children touched hundreds of young lives.
Her trials with diabetes and other health challenges never diminished her spirit. She endured multiple surgeries and hardships with grace, always praying that her hands would be preserved so she could continue to create and hold those she loved. Her faith was unwavering, her resilience unmatched.
Later Years & Legacy
Eydie’s life was filled with joy through her 28 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, whom she lovingly called her “grand rewards.” She poured her energy, creativity, and heart into each of them.
She passed away in her home, with her eternal companion by her side and her son close at hand, just as she had prayed it would be.
