Norman Glen Allen

Norman Glen Allen, age 93, passed away peacefully at his home in Howe, Idaho, on Saturday, June 7, 2025.
Born on June 26, 1931, in Brooklyn, Missouri, to Glendle V. and Beulah M. Baker Allen, Norm—as he was affectionately known—was raised in Ridgeway, Missouri. At age 14, he joined his parents in Twin Falls, Idaho, where he completed his schooling.
During the Korean Conflict, Norm served his country honorably in the United States Army, stationed in both Japan and Korea before receiving his honorable discharge.
On February 21, 1953, he married Betty Darlene Johnson in Elko, Nevada. Together, they made their home in Twin Falls, where Norm honed his skills as a sheet metal worker. Eventually, the couple moved to Howe, Idaho, where they raised four children: Scott, Brent, Glenda, and Todd.
Norm worked for many years at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) as a skilled sheet metal worker while also managing his farming responsibilities. A hardworking man of integrity and resilience, he remained dedicated to both his trade and his land. In their later years, Norm and Betty enjoyed traveling with family and friends, often taking joy in new places and shared memories.
Norm had a zest for life and a warm, welcoming spirit. He loved square dancing and was an active member of the Howe Lions Club and the 35th Station Hospital Alumni Association.
He is survived by his children: Scott Allen (Darla), Brent Allen, Glenda Pope (Kent), and Todd Allen (Joel); along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Betty Allen; his parents, Glendle and Beulah Allen; and his three brothers: Raymond Allen, Robert Allen, and Eugene Allen.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Howe Cemetery. A viewing will be held the evening before, Tuesday, June 10, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Arco, Idaho.
Norm will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering work ethic, and enduring devotion to family and country. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched.
