Kathryn Kay Marchant, 69, returned to her Heavenly Father on June 3, 2025, after a short but courageous battle with a rare and extremely aggressive cancer. Kathy was born on January 13, 1956, in Phoenix, Arizona, to Kay Allan and June Speakman Driggs. She had a happy childhood and was especially close to her father who called her Kathy Kins. She married her eternal sweetheart, Alan Mark Marchant on November 5, 1977, in the Provo Temple. Kathy was a devoted wife and a loving, attentive mother. Her greatest joy came from being with her family. She made each child, grandchild, and loved one feel cherished, seen, and valued. Her legacy of love, faithfulness, and dedication will live on in the lives of her loved ones. A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kathy served with dedication in many callings. She especially loved sacred music and gave countless hours of service as a gifted pianist and organist.
Kathy was a true jack of all trades and a master of many — endlessly talented and always eager to learn something new. Whether upholstering furniture, refinishing cabinets, fixing plumbing, or painting beautiful wooden crafts, she never shied away from a challenge, and the results were always remarkable. As a teenager, she taught herself to play the piano when pianists were in short supply in her ward in Alabama. Later in life, she also taught herself to play the guitar and organ.
Kathy was a gifted seamstress who crocheted delicate, beautiful dresses for granddaughters and grandnieces, lovingly sewed teddy bears for each of her grandchildren, and crafted all her daughters’ wedding gowns by hand. She had a deep love for flowers — especially tulips and dahlias — and was known to dig up and take her cherished bulbs with her whenever she moved.
She adored reading and was always reading or listening to books. Kathy’s husband, children, and grandchildren will never forget her famous homemade bread and cinnamon rolls — but most of all, they will remember how she would drop everything if her family was in need showering them with unwavering love and support. She will be missed every day.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Alan; her children: Andrew (Natalie), Tremonton, UT; Brian (Michelle), South Jordan, UT; Heather (Brian) Droubay, Brigham City, UT; Charisse (Kory) Call, American Falls, ID, Sarah (Felipe) Montanares, Idaho Falls, ID. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren who, with her children, were the light of her life. She is also survived by her brothers, Jeff (Diane), Scott (Angie), and Mark, and sisters, Barbie (Veldon) Taylor, Suzy (John) Gay, Pattie (Brent) Woodland, and Jackie (Wayne) Woodhouse.
Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, June 10, at 111 Church Place in American Falls at 10 a.m. with a viewing at 9:00-9:45. A viewing will also be held from 6:00-8:00 on Monday, June 9 at the same location. Interment will be in the Falls View Cemetery in American Falls, Idaho, following funeral services.
