Robert H. Stiver, 79, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2024, in Nampa, Idaho. He had been in declining health.

Robert was born on September 24, 1945, in Logansport, Indiana to Harold P. and Opal (Howell) Stiver. Robert has a brother, Ken, of Logansport, Indiana and a sister, Mary (Gayvin), of Monticello, Indiana.

Robert graduated from Logansport High School in 1964 and then joined the United States Navy. He served for four years and was discharged in May of 1968.

While Robert was stationed in Bremerton, WA serving on the AOE-1 Sacramento, he met the love of his life, Carol Alford. They got married on December 18, 1967, in Bremerton, WA. In May of 1968, after being discharged from the Navy, they moved to Indiana. Their first child, Connie, was born October 20, 1969. Soon after, they went back to Bremerton, WA, and Robert went to Olympic Jr. College. Child number two was born shortly after his graduation. Richard was born October 23, 1972, in Bremerton, WA. Robert began working for Puget Power—first as a meter reader and then as a draftsman over in Bellevue, WA. Child number three, Carrie, was born on November 23, 1974, in Bremerton, WA.

Robert’s career took off from here—first moving to Colestrip, MT as a start-up engineer on a coal plant. Robert worked in Colestrip, MT twice and then changed companies, and the family moved to Grand Haven, Michigan for a start-up job at a coal plant. The family lived there for four years, and child number four, Rob, was born on November 5, 1981.

In the spring of 1982, Robert took his first international job. The company moved the family back to Bremerton, WA, and then he was off to Egypt. The next 20-plus years, Robert worked in other countries: Malaysia, Thailand, Algeria, El Salvador, as well as a few domestic jobs. Robert moved the family to the Kansas City area in 1989. He worked for Burns and McDonald, and Black and Vetch. His last job was out of California, so Robert and Carol moved again—to Utah, Oregon, and lastly to Nampa, Idaho.

Robert is survived by his wife, Carol, and his children, all married: Connie to Mike Fitzpatrick, son Aidan; Rick to Mary Ann, three children, Kayla, Nick, and Sarah; Carrie to Scott Dudek, two daughters, Greta and Bridget; Rob to Eva, two sons Porter and Ewen. Three great-grandchildren: Kayla has son Kason, daughters Khloe and Kendra.

Robert enjoyed skin diving, hunting, and sports cars.

Robert was a member of the Canyon Church of Christ in Nampa, Idaho.
