It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Andrew Rulin Hicken on Monday, February 3, 2025.

Andrew was born in Provo, Utah on April 25, 1976, the third child of Janet and Lorin Hicken. He grew up in Highland and graduated from American Fork High School. He enjoyed swimming and was a lifeguard at the community pool. He also loved playing soccer, eight ball, and spending time with friends.

After high school, Andy attended Utah Valley University and worked at Hansen Insulation until he served a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in New York, New York South. He returned and met his wife, Merri. They were married in the Kennewick, Washington temple and made their home in Pleasant Grove, where they welcomed two children, Emily and Kyle. They bought their first home in Vineyard, Utah, where three additional children—Lance, Jacob, and Kymbre—joined their family. He worked at US Synthetic for almost 15 years, later worked at Maple Mountain Co-Packers, and most recently for Darigold in Boise, Idaho.

He was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and over the years served as a Young Men’s leader, Sunday School teacher, Bishopric Counselor, Ward Executive Secretary, and Primary teacher. He enjoyed golfing, running, doing household projects, coaching kids’ sports, and spending time with his family. His family was his primary focus in life and where he found the most joy.

Andy is survived by his spouse of 22 years, Merri Dee Hicken (Welch); children Emily JoAnn, Kyle Andrew, Lance Wimmer, Jacob Ephraim, and Kymbre Lee Mable Hicken; his mother, Janet Hicken; siblings Richy, Matt, Aaron, Mike, Beth Ulvestad, Ann, and Amy Wells; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins who deeply loved him. He was preceded in death by his father, Lorin Richard Hicken.

A funeral service will be held for Andy on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., at the LDS Chapel in Eagle, Idaho. It will be livestreamed at https://www.inmemorial.us/live.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to all those who have reached out and provided support at this difficult time. Andy’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Condolences may be posted to the memorial page on Summers Funeral Home, Meridian, Idaho.
