Peter Lasser

Peter Roy Lasser, who was born on August 12, 1944 in Newark, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2024, in Nampa, Idaho, just shy of his 80th birthday. He was surrounded by family and loved ones.

Peter was a dedicated and loving husband to Judy Diana Hafen, with whom he shared 55 wonderful years of marriage. He would always share how lucky he was to marry his best friend and love of his life. He is survived by his cherished children: four daughters, Joyce Erickson, Rory Henderson (Niko Henderson), Tina Louise Lasser (Damian Plumb), and Rebecca Lindgren (Jess Lindgren), as well as his son, Marc Lasser (Lumi Lasser). Peter took great pride in being a devoted grandfather to his 11 grandchildren: Kayja Coleman (Cody Coleman), Andrew Erickson (Christy Erickson), Mariah Erickson, Garrett Henderson, Lauren Henderson, Sage Lasser, Sasha Lasser, Benjamin Lasser, Tucker Lasser, Caleb Peter Lindgren, and Zander Lindgren. He is also survived by his seven great-grandchildren and his three nieces, Jodi Matro, Kari Lasser-Roland, and Lori Atkins, along with his god-nephew, Kenny Melcombe, and sister-in-law, Iva Sallay.

Peter was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth Jordan and Mac Lasser, as well as his only sibling and brother, William Lasser, and his sister-in-law, Ruth Lasser.

Peter was an alumnus of Fairfax High School in Hollywood, California. After high school, Peter went on to graduate from UCLA with a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology. His career in the printing industry began in the 1970s, in which he held multiple positions such as owner, manager, consultant, and sales with firms that included Powder River Press, Remington Press, Chromatic Lithographers, NW Web, and Feature Films for Families. The cumulation of his years in this industry summated to his self-employment as a printing facilitator which he retired from in 2019. His dedication to his profession was evident throughout his life. Peter’s passion and advocacy for health and fitness included a rigorous exercise regimen that began following a hospital bout in the early 1990s and resulted in a weight loss of over 200 lbs. He took immense pride in marking his accomplishments on his calendar, often going years without missing a single exercise day. In addition, Peter was an avid reader and had a deep appreciation for history and genealogical research. He also enjoyed classic movies, old westerns, and musical theatre, with favorites like Fiddler on the Roof and Man of La Mancha. In his earlier years, he found joy in volunteering and refereeing for his children’s sports teams, such as soccer, baseball, and basketball. He also instilled a love of music in his family.

Peter’s warmth, humor, and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Peter was well known as a man of immaculate character, including never judging anyone by their appearance but instead by their character. This trait was only superseded by his love for his family. He prioritized making family memories and was a pillar of strength to them all. Peter was an exemplary of unconditional love, as even during his 16 yearlong battle with lymphoma he kept a positive attitude and was there for his family in several capacities. He would worry for his family but would never want us to worry about him. Peter always knew how to add humor in every situation and his sarcastic sense of humor and ability to make his friends and family laugh will be dearly missed. Peter had a great many dear friends and shared endlessly how important those friendships were to him. He would end every conversation with his family, “Remember you are Loved.”
